Dr. Gary Stamp completed an honors bachelor of science in physical therapy at the University of Toronto and proceeded to work for one year as the head physiotherapist at the York University Sportsmed clinic treating the national mens wrestling team as well as the national track and field team and various varsity athletes.
He then completed his medical degree at McMaster University and his orthopaedic training at the University of Western Ontario. He completed a Fellowship in Arthroscopic Shoulder and Knee surgery with Dr. Des Bokor in Sydney, Australia and a second fellowship in Comprehensive Shoulder Surgery under the late Dr. James Roth at the Hand and upper Limb Center in London, Ontario. Both fellowship experiences allowed him the opportunity to deal with professional and amateur athletes alike.
Dr. Stamp is a Fellow of the Canadian Royal College of Surgeons (Orthopaedics) and is a member of the Sports Medicine division of the Ontario Medical Association. He holds hospital privileges at the Guelph General Hospital, where he performs shoulder replacement surgery, shoulder instability surgery and rotator cuff tendon repair surgery. He also performs arthroscopic knee surgery such as ACL reconstruction, meniscal surgery and does routine orthopaedic trauma surgery.
He maintains an academic presence by being involved with the teaching of orthopaedic residents from various training programs and family medicine residents from the University of McMaster program.
Dr Stamp presently works as a consultant surgeon for the Guelph Storm OHL Jr. A hockey team and all the University of Guelph varsity sports teams.
